The philosophy of change (Chapter 3)

6th May, evening
CitizenM hotel at Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport.

Self check-in service on touch screen terminals… Ella likes those “make your life easy” things. Contemporary design and new technologies…almost no employees…

The beauty of the space and unusual interior design occupied Ella’s thoughts. When she was in high school, she wanted to study Architecture, especially interior design. She wanted also to make furniture or to be a fashion designer or even industrial designer. Everything what has any connection with design. But, she didn’t… At that time, she followed other people dreams…

She is entering in the room…wall to wall window, LCD television with free movie channels, power rain shower in the middle of the room, theatre lighting, touch screen mood pad which allows to control everything in room…

“This world become more and more crazy, how far that can go?” – asks Ella her Man. He is not responding. His face…like a face of the boy who has just got his favorite toy. He was touching everything, checking how things work.

“Oh my God, nice playground for you…Men…” – Ella is laughing and going to take a shower.

“Well, nice idea with this “rainy shower” in the middle of the room…like I am in some space capsule made from glass, but where is my privacy?” – She is complaining during her Man is taking pictures of her in that capsule.

“Of course, again something for men fantasies, other type of playground. Is here something for women fantasies? Maybe some young handsome man will appear in this capsule, bound from the floor… Who knows? Give me the touch pad, maybe they have that option, too.” Ella is laughing and posing.

After he took a shower, they went to see the hotel better.

“I want that, and that, and that…” Ella is showing with her finger on different objects. Then, suddenly, she realize: “I don’t need them any more, I will live on the boat” And just like that, her good mood switched off.

“Is it possible to live without all those nice things? I got used to all those nice “little” things” – she is thinking and watching very stylish coffee table.

“I will not have a coffee table!” – pronouncing Ella aloud. Her Man is laughing and saying: “But you will have the biggest pool on the world where ever you are”

“Yes, you always have a good answer, nice try”

“Changes in life… Something you lose, but something else you get. I was a long time in the phase of “to have”, and now I am entering in the phase of “to be”.” – Ella is thinking and bid farewell to that wonderful very stylish coffee table.

“That will be the process. Every day I will say “Goodbye” to something and “Oh hello!” to something else. Would be nice if we can just wake up in the morning one day, our mindset is changed and we are ready for new life. Just like that. Night can be that “touch pad” for our mindsets and habits. But then, there would be no charms of changes. No surprises.” Ella’s brain is burning…

“We should be willing to pay the price for our dreams, dear. We lose a great part of ourselves making a connection with things and we think they are important for our life. Wrong mindset, but the society in which we live puts us into those molds of “proper living” – Ella’s Man trying to “bring” Ella back.

“I am the spoiled city woman and I was too long in those molds. I am aware that the road ahead of me and us won’t be the easiest one. I hope, at least until I get used to the different way of living. You left the “system” few years ago and it’s not so difficult for you any more. After a while, everything will be easier for me…” – Ella replies deeply believe in it.

to be continued…
