The best gift I’ve ever given to myself
I’ve decided to give you more detailed description of life on a sailing boat and in the marina or marinas around the world.
I’ll show you a personal example of how life circumstances influence on the changes in behavior and even in character, regardless of whether you have 15, 35, 45, 65 etc. years. Anything is possible, believe me. Yet when we embrace change so often we find hope and new and wonderful experiences. I have learned so much about myself.
It will be simple, daily life examples. Sometimes funny, sometimes bitter …
You will see how we are all incredibly “elastic” when it’s necessary, when life expects that of us.
Like Paulo Coelho said: “When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.”
They say that people who live on a boat don’t live a normal life or they are not “normal”.
You see, I think we can discuss about that for hours…. Who is actually “normal”? All those who live in cities, every day getting up early and spend almost whole day at work in rat race, who hardly see how day looks like, the sun, nature? Or are the people who are live on a boat “normal”, because they are much more relaxed, live for the moments of that day, in constant contact with nature? I leave to you to think about it, I know the answer, because I was in rat race in my life and now I am living on a sailing boat…
I will start with “simple” things, things about you do not think when you live in an apartment for example…
Rational use of natural resources – water
You can not be under the shower as long as you like. That means:
You make yourself wet, then you turn off the shower, put the shower gel on your body, turn on the shower and flush the shower gel from your body. Amazing!
No more half-hour shower, as long as you have hot water… not only during the sailing (because on the ocean you don’t have place where you can fulfill your water tanks), also when you are in the marina, because you pay for the water extra.
That is a way also how you are learning to save money
About dishwashing is the same. Only, as I observed, people don’t save water when they are washing their boats…
Now, we are temporary in one little apartment, because our boat is as you know, out of water because of painting.
When we came in the apartment, first what I saw was the bathroom! Wow! Big bathroom, a lot of warm water! But, life on a boat did his job well… I needed a lot of time to realize that I can take a shower a little bit longer :) But, I don’t use a lot of water during the shower, I still take care, because we are on an island and like all islands, they have a problem with a water. So, I take care about that. Maybe I am the only one here, who takes care about that, but I don’t care, I feel good. My awareness about “nature conservation” is now on higher level.
This is the way how I learned what means “rational use of natural resources”, ”saving money” and “nature conservation”
To be continued…

You made my day yesterday with your comment
Good that your mother is learning English, maybe you learn something from her
Kiss and stay well
and excuse my spelling and other mistakes. Like my mother said today, frustrated after her English class, f..k, they never heard of Vuk Karadzic.
Baby D2, even in Serbia you can experience the experience with showering with limited or no water. Even in capital. Beleive you me. So, c’mon, give us some juice
