Scented toys can be dangerous for the children health

The European Union has already prohibited the use of 55 synthetic fragrances for toys. Because of possible allergic reactions, in the Viennese kindergarten kids do not play any more with the scented toys.

Whether if they smell of vanilla, strawberry or chocolate… some of these scents can be dangerous.
- Many synthetic fragrances make children sensitive to inflammation of the ear. They can cause allergies or in the worst case, they can cause depression, said experts who have engaged in researching their impact on children.

These artificial fragrances provoke the children to put them in the mouth. They are also dangerous because the child can swallowed some parts of these toys.

However, in order to encourage the purchase of teddy toys, rattles and puzzles, toy industry still has available more than 2,500 different scents. The only advice to parents is to choose carefully and don’t pay attention on the children tears when they purchasing toys.

I wonder about how those scents affect children with asthma or those who might be prone to develop adult-onset asthma. Asthma is approaching epidemic levels in the United States. Women find they can no longer wear or bear to be around perfumes, colognes, after shaves, et cetera.

Fragrance is one of the great joys of life if you are not overly sensitive to it. Like all things, fragrance should be enjoyed in moderation. It seems, as in this story, manufacturers are trying to convince consumers that more is better. Even cat and dog toys now have artificial fragrances added – not just catnip for cats either.

It seems to me it would be best, though I admit more costly, to use as many natural ingredients as possible because fragrance sensitivity might eventually shut down the very industries pushing unnecessary synthetic fragrances now.

I adore good perfume, try to grow fragrant flowers, but am careful on wearing perfume or gifting flowers because I do not the people I interact with to have adverse reactions.
