Admit your mistakes (Part 11)

The important part in business communication is also to admit to your potential client that you did something wrong in your business past or forgot to do. Of course you will mention that after they first mention what kind of mistakes they did (and that always somehow come up like a topic…).

They like to hear that, because with that, we show them we are not saints and that happen to everyone, they are not alone in rat race…

We all make mistakes, we all did something wrong (not just once!), we are not always in the mood to do our work etc. So, be natural, share with them your experiences. That will help them to accept more easily their own mistakes and somehow they will be grateful to you. That is also your grate step to get that client.

But, never talk that you didn’t respect your dead lines, or that you forgot to pay some invoice on time… Nothing what will make them to think that you are not responsible or serious partner. I am talking about small “human” mistakes, what occur due to your excessive devotion to your work. You are the one who is working 17 hours a day and because you are so responsible and committed to your job and your clients, you miss something…

The best way to tell your story is to tell in the form of anecdote. Laugh about that. Don’t take it serious. That just happen to you, you didn’t feel well in that moment, but now it’s a past and you can laugh about that, specially if you mention add: “After that, I always first check that” – for example.

It has to be fun story, not heavy one. You know, son of my friend when he was a boy had a very good approach to his father, when he had to tell him something bad what he did:” Father, I have to tell you something and I am sure that in few months we are going to laugh about that…”

Keep in mind that approach…
