Duvet covers
These days I am occupied with Duvet covers! On Canary islands can be very cold during the nights, especially in the winter months. During the day it is warm, but about 8 p.m. it start to be cold…
So, some info about duvet:
A duvet (RP IPA: [ˈduːveɪ], GenAm IPA: [duˈveɪ], from the French duvet “down”, IPA: [dyˈvɛ]) (or continental quilt or doona) is a type of bedding — a soft flat bag traditionally filled with down or feathers, or a combination of both, and used on a bed as a blanket. Duvets originated in rural Europe and were made from the down feathers of the eider duck, known for its usefulness as an insulator.
In modern times, a duvet is sometimes filled with silk, wool, cotton, or artificial fibers (such as polyester batting or other artificial material); it is sometimes confused with a comforter. Although comforters go on top of the traditional sheets and blankets, duvets are used by themselves.
DUVETS are famous for their luxurious softness and versatility. Duvet may be a costly investment, especially if it is filled with sumptuous down. It is good to cover and protect your down comforter with one.
And not less important, it’s a quick and easy way to redecorate your room. When you tire of your bed’s color scheme, you can easily stuff your duvet into a different duvet cover to match whatever color bedding you happen to be in the mood for.
Duvets are not big and bulky so they can be easily stored. You can also use your duvet cover alone.
Duvets come in different styles, colors and patterns. I found duvet covers in a wide range of colors and styles on Overstock. They always have discounts. For your info, I am not the affiliate of Overstock, I have just saw those nice and useful duvets on that site, because I need them in this moment. There are a lot of other web sites for online shopping. I think nothing matches the experience of sleeping under a quality down comforter – or duvet! I have them in my apartment and I want to have it on our sailing boat…
Take care when you are cleaning Duvets. They are so delicate and fluffy, they may require special cleaning. Most duvet covers are machine-washable and won’t cause your comforter to loose its fill power. They can be laundered along with the sheets and pillowcases. This keeps the duvets fresh as well. You can also put them inside the sheets or pillows, like I am doing… Also, during duvets are drying, you have to shake them from time to time, to spread feathers or what ever is inside (like you ski jacket fulfilled with feathers). That is also a way how duvets will dry more quickly and stay airy.
I am living on a sailing boat more than 8 months now, and believe me, what is practical on a sailing boat (that means on a small place, where everything has to be so good organized) is much more practical and useful in your apartment!
